Mary Oluchi Iwuagwu is a lecturer in the department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria. She has taught in this department since 2007 and is currently the head of department. Mary has B.Sc. degree in Plant Science and Biotechnology from the university of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, M.Sc in Plant Physiology from Abia State University, Uturu, and Ph.D in Crop Production and Physiology from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, all in Nigeria. She is a member of several professional societies including Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, Botanical Society of Nigeria, Botanical Society of America among others. She has won several prizes which include subject prize, Deans prize, and University of Port Harcourt Women Association award, for being the best graduating student in the department, the faculty and the best female graduand, respectively. She was also the best graduating student of her class.
